American Association of Classified School Employees - 2010
Much to our surprise, another year has passed. The AACSE has made many strides this year. We were successful in getting the passage of the Carl Perkins Grants and the Motor Coach Safety Enchantment Act of 2009. As we get ready to start our 2010 LEG. Conference, we are again faced with some great issue that need our attention.

Much can be said about where we have come in the last year. The notion that we can now make a difference in the lives of the thousands of CSE/PSRPs around this great nation is a plus. And I note, it is a plus that cannot be mistaken by those who resist the changes that are needed. As our voice and influence grows, so will our ability to effect policy and create a pathway to a better future.

Even more, there is now a need for the AACSE to expand and extend its reach among those we represent. What are some of the best ways for us to engage such expansion and extending? We should be raising the bar and asking the hard questions of ourselves. What does the future look like and how can we plan for it now? What things can we do now that will help pave that pathway to the future?

The questions that are posted above are the ones that I think should guide us for the next year. What will be the issues of press that we will need to undertake for the betterment of our members? How will we do our work? What will that work look like and where will it lead us?

So much of what we are today is built on the shoulders of those who came before us. How can we build an AACSE that will continue to provoke in those coming after us the will to fight for the issues that are of importance to the working class and most importantly to CSE/PSRPs?

I will always say that one of the high point of my life’s work will be that of being the President of the AACSE. It will be now as was in the past a strong effort to change for the better the working conditions and lives of my brothers and sisters who work in the field of education.

I am most thankful that we are making this journey together, for I am assured that the AACSE has been and will continue to be for many years to come the voice of CSE/PSRPs all around this great nation. It is my hope that each of us will take a look reflectively and consider the challenges that will we face in the days to come. I believe the strength of the AACSE has been its ability to think through the issues and see that there really are possible solutions.

Thank you for all that you each do to make our AACSE strong and viable for today and for years to come. Please enjoy the 2010 LEG. Conference and let’s create a pathway to the future by continuing to make a difference today.

In Solidarity,

George l. Williams
AACSE President
